[EN]This experiment studies the mechanisms involved in intentional forgetting when employed the Directed Forgetting paradigm (List method). Two lists of word were presented (list 1 and list 2). Half of the participants (Forget condition) studied the list 1 and after its presentation, they were said that this list was a practice list so they should forgetting. Then, list 2 was presented for studying. The other half of the participants (Remember condition), studied the list 1, and after that, the list 2 was presented (without forgetting instructions). Finally all the participants had to recall all the previously studied words (both list 1 and list 2). Results revealed an impairment in the recall of the list 1 items in the Forget condition when compared to the Remember condition due to forgetting instructions. These data are important since they can help to understand the mechanisms involved in the intentional forgetting of unpleasant events.
