Sexting: un problema emergente en la adolescencia

Abstract

El sexting es un fenómeno relativamente reciente que hace alusión al envío, recepción y reenvío de fotografías, vídeos o textos sugerentes, a otras personas a través de teléfonos móviles, redes sociales u otros medios informáticos. Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo profundizar en el conocimiento sobre este fenómeno: implicación en conductas de sexting, motivos para ello y hasta qué punto estas conductas están normalizadas en la población adolescente. Participaron 652 adolescentes de 3º y 4º ESO y 1º y 2º Bachiller (13-20 años, ambos incluidos; M= 15.92 y DT= 1.25). Los resultados demuestran que hay un alto porcentaje de implicación entre adolescentes, que lo hacen porque confían en quien recibe las fotos, videos o mensajes sugerentes y creen que lo normal es ser más lanzado a través de estos, que en la vida real. Los resultados parecen sugerir que, creer que es normal practicarlo y justificarse por hacerlo, favorece la implicación en conductas del sexting.

Sexting is a relatively recent phenomenon that refers to sending, receiving and forwarding photographs, videos or suggestive texts, to other people through mobile phones, social networks or other computer media. This research aimed to deepen the understanding of this phenomenon: involvement in sexting behaviors, reasons for this and to what extent these behaviors are standardized in the adolescent population. 652 teenagers participated (13 to 20 years, inclusive; M = 15.92 and SD = 1.25). The results show that a high percentage of involvement among teens, who do because they trust who receives the photos, videos or suggestive messages and believe that it is normal to be released through these , as in real life. The results seem to suggest that, believing that it is normal practice and justified by doing so, promotes involvement in sexting behaviors.
