Applying the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages to Textbook Analysis: Study of a Non-Compulsory Secondary Education Textbook

Abstract

This MA dlssertation examines the application of the Common Euro pean Framework of Reference for Languages {CEFR) to the analysis of a Non-Compulsory Secondary Education textbook that is currently being used in a Secondary School in Jaen {Andalusia). This educational stage is particularly interesting due to the negative washback effect produced by the University Entrance Exam on it. The analysis focuses on the communicative actlvities and strategles related to the written and oral productions and interactíons proposed in the CEFR. Therefore1 this analysls witnesses an updated testímony of what happens in the dassroom nowadays, providing information to develop a didactic unit that may cover al! the defíciencies presented in the student's book and the workbook. These limitations wiil be covered thanks to the inclusion of a set of interactive and communicative activities through the use the European Language Portfolio and lnformatlon and Communícation Technologies in the dassroom.

Este trabajo fin de master examina el uso del Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las Lenguas en el análisis de un libro de texto de Bachillerato usado hoy en un instituto de Jaén (Andalucía). Este nivel educativo es particularmente interesante debido a la influencia negativa que produce sobre él la Selectividad. El análisis se centrará en las actividades y estrategias comunicativas relacionadas con la producción y la interacción escrita y oral propuestas por el Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las Lenguas. AsÍ; este análisis testifica lo que sucede hoy en el aula, dando información para desarrollar una unidad didáctica que pueda cubrir todas las deficiencias que presentan los libros de texto. Estas 1 limitaciones se cubrirán gradas a! uso de un conjunto de actividades interactivas y comunicativas a través 1 de herramientas como el Portafolio Europeo de las Lenguas y algunas de las Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación.
