Desarrollo y validación de un instrumento multidimensional on-line para evaluar la insatisfacción corporal

Abstract

[ES] Los estándares de belleza de la sociedad actual basados en modelos pro-delgadez han dado lugar a una creciente y excesiva preocupación por el peso y la imagen, convirtiendo la insatisfacción corporal en un factor de riesgo para el desarrollo de alteraciones en la imagen corporal y trastornos mentales graves. Para la evaluación de la insatisfacción corporal hay instrumentos de medida que evalúan los distintos compontes del constructo de forma específica, pero no existe un instrumento multidimensional que los evalúe a todos de forma unificada. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue el desarrollo y validación de un test multidimensional de la insatisfacción corporal de aplicación on-line: Test Multidimensional de la Insatisfacción Corporal (TMIC). Se realizó un Análisis Factorial Confirmatorio para el análisis de la estructura factorial del test, un estudio de la validez convergente mediante el análisis de las correlaciones de Pearson entre las puntuaciones del TMIC y las puntuaciones obtenidas en otras medidas relacionadas con el constructo subyacente y se comprobó la fiabilidad del test mediante el calculó el alfa de Cronbach y el coeficiente de estabilidad (test-retest). En el estudio participaron 732 mujeres españolas con edades entre los 17 y los 64 años. Los resultados mostraron una consistencia interna alta, así como buena fiabilidad test-retest y validez convergente. La estructura factorial original propuesta no se confirma en su totalidad, pero en general todos los ítems se han agrupado en dimensiones que resultan relevantes en la insatisfacción corporal y que, por tanto, confirmarían la multidimensionalidad del constructo.

[EN] Current society's beauty standards based on pro-thinness models have led to a growing and excessive preoccupation with weight and image, making body dissatisfaction a factor of risk for the development of alterations in body image and disorders mental disorders. For the assessment of body dissatisfaction, there are measurement instruments that evaluate the different components of the construct in a specific way, but there is no multidimensional instrument that evaluates all of them in a unified way. The objective of the present work was the development and validation of a multidimensional test of the body dissatisfaction of on-line application: Multidimensional Test of Body Dissatisfaction (TMIC). A Factorial Confirmatory Analysis was performed for the analysis of the factorial structure of the test, a study of the convergent validity by analyzing the Pearson correlations between the TMIC scores and the scores obtained in other measures related to the underlying construct and verified the reliability of the test using the Cronbach's alpha and the test-retest coefficient. The study involved 732 Spanish women aged between 17 and 64 years. The results showed high internal consistency as well as good test-retest reliability and convergent validity. The original factorial structure proposed is not fully confirmed, but in general all the items have been grouped in dimensions that are relevant in the body dissatisfaction and that, therefore, would confirm the multidimensionality of the construct.
