EFECTO DE LA PRÁCTICA DEL COLECHO EN EL SÍNDROME DE MUERTE SÚBITA DEL LACTANTE: REVISIÓN INTEGRATIVA

Abstract

[ES] El colecho constituye el tema más controvertido del sueño pediátrico. El objetivo de esta revisión integrativa es identificar en la literatura científica existente la asociación de la práctica del colecho con la ocurrencia del Síndrome de Muerte Súbita del Lactante. Se llevó a cabo una búsqueda bibliográfica en las principales bases de datos de casos de muertes relacionadas con el Síndrome de Muerte Súbita del Lactante en sujetos de edad menor o igual a 1 año de edad, que ocurrieron en una situación de colecho. Los resultados demuestran un mayor riesgo de SMSL relacionado con el colecho, cuando están presentes otros potenciales factores de riesgo. En relación al efecto del colecho como factor de riesgo independiente para el SMSL, los resultados de las investigaciones se encuentran más polarizados. Se proponen recomendaciones para conseguir un ambiente de sueño seguro para los bebés.

[EN] Co-sleeping or bed-sharing, is the most controversial subject of pediatric sleep. The objective of this review is to identify in the existing scientific literature the association of the practice of co-sleeping with the occurrence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. A bibliographic search was conducted in the main databases of death cases related to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in babies less than or equal to 1 year of age who occurred in a co-sleeping situation. The results show an increased risk of SIDS related to co-sleeping, when other potential risk factors are present. Regarding the effect of the co-sleeping as an independent risk factor for SIDS, the results of the investigations are more polarized. Recommendations are proposed to achieve a safe sleep environment for infants.
