LA DEMOCRACIA EN ROMA. SU TRASCENDENCIA HISTÓRICA

Abstract

[ES] En este trabajo fin de grado se pretende abordar la importante trascendencia histórica de la democracia como forma de gobierno dirigente en la República romana durante seis siglos. A pesar de que el nacimiento de la democracia se sitúa en Atenas, su máximo esplendor se vivió en Roma gracias a la reformulación que se llevó a cabo de la originaria idea de democracia directa ateniense. A pesar de las garantías de las que estaba revestida la República, las prácticas corruptas, que salpicaban a las diversas magistraturas, fue la principal lacra que se tuvo que combatir a través de la promulgación de diversas leyes. La importancia del sistema político republicano romano radica en que puede considerarse el precedente más inmediato del constitucionalismo moderno y, que a su vez, la idea de democracia que resurgió en la edad moderna constituye la base de nuestro actual sistema democrático.

[EN] In this work end of grade is expected to address the important historical significance of democracy as a form of Government leader in the roman Republic for six centuries. While the birth of democracy places in Athens, its maximum splendor lived in Rome thanks to the reformulation is carried out from the original idea of Athenian direct democracy. Despite the guarantees the Republic was covered, the corrupt practices, that it affected the various magistratures, were the main scourge that it had to fight through the promulgation of several laws. The importance of the roman Republican political system is that it can be considered the most immediate precedent of modern constitutionalism, and, at the same time, the democracy idea that it revived in modern age this is the basis of our current democratic system.
